That’s how I think of this is.

It’s not so much that we are coming to the end of a great idea as that we are taking a little break from it. We’ve decided to stop blogging here for now, knowing full well we might be back some time in the indefinite future. We’re just taking a breather.

It’s been quite the run. When I sold my first book, this was the first place I wanted to visit to make my announcement. And what a reception! Everyone here made me feel so wonderful. I’ve met all kinds of interesting writers here, learned so much from my fellow blogging-author’s from their insight to their research, and generally enjoyed myself here.

It’s hard to believe it was three years. Seems like a year and a half to me. Sure a lot happened. I’m far from the only one to make my first sale in this time. But I it still doesn’t seem that long to me.

I’ll still be blogging on my personal blog. When we were thinking of quitting here, I was also thinking about quitting there. I’d noticed that a lot of blogs and hubs that were going strong a year ago are gone or fading now. But I think I’ll stick it out, if nothing else, so there will be a warm place for my friends from here to guest when their books come out.

Even though we are taking a break now, this was a great idea. I’m glad we did it.

And since it’s Wednesday, I’ll leave you all with one last bit of weirdness. Captions, anyone?

  1. The only sure thing about change is that it will change. :) I love your outlook, Alice. You’re right! All things adapt and grow; this is just one of those growing pains. We’ll be back in one way or another–hopefully, each of us with her first (or next) book to sell. :)

  2. As for the caption:

Jane spent too much time with her hair, um, head in the “storm” clouds. :)

  3. I agree with you, Alice. Three years have flown by. I had no idea we’d had the blog for so long. I’m glad you will continue with your blog and I hope to visit Suzie’s House more often.

As for the caption: If anyone asked, Jane told them, “You should see my poodle.”

  4. Alice, from your lips to God’s ear. May you have many, many friends guest blogging about their latest books. ;)

I think Bryn said it best when she said the only sure thing about change is that it will change. We’ve seen a lot of changes including positive signs of growth as writers, and I expect to see many more successes as we continue on this writing journey.

Thanks for always being there and always having sage words of advice whether about writing or life in general, and thanks most of all for being a friend!

  5. The first thing I thought of when I saw the picture: Cloudy with a chance of sudden downpours. (Borrowing a little from Bryn.)

  6. Alice, here’s a toast to all of us guesting on your blog! And you guesting on mine as I will keep my personal blogs going as well.

I agree, it’s a hiatus. There will come a time (I hope) when we all come back together.

And I thought my hair suffered in the humidity.

  7. LOL. Good captions Brynna and Terri.

Sasha, I value your words of wisdom, too.

Renee, I’d love to guest on your personal blog(s). LOL, humidity!!!

  8. This place is going to be missed! But there does seem to be a supply/demand issue going on with blogs these days. It’s like we’ve increased the supply so much, the demand is down. Just not enough hours in the day to visit all of them.

Caption – My head is in such a fog today.

PS: What is this playground of which Ana spoke? I don’t know about this. Or do I know about it and don’t know I know? Always possible.

  9. I’m not sure, Terrio. Maybe the board? You can find it here: http://writers.romanceroundtable.com/

  10. Yeah, hiatus, I like that! I wasn’t here the entire three years but I must admit, I have enjoyed being part of such a wonderful group of women. Thanks for including me and for treating me so wonderfully!

As for the caption…Hey, it didn’t work for Winnie-the-Pooh…but maybe the bees will really think I’m a little black rain cloud. Now if I can just find a balloon big enough!

  11. Yes, hiatus is a good name for it. We are not disbanding only disblogging :) and yes, there is no reason to keep us from coming back at a future date. In the mean time, let’s write ladies!! :)

Terrio- Yes, the playground is our forum, follow the link Alice gave you and come visit whenever you like, we are always there.

  12. I had no idea you had a forum! How did I miss that. A little voice in the back of my head keeps telling me I knew about this but the other louder, crazy voices in front are drowning it out.

I’ve added the link to my favorites and I won’t be able to stop by until some kind of normalcy returns, but I will be there. Promise!

  14. Alice, I like “Hiatus” too. It felt too final before I read this, and you’re right, it doesn’t have to be a permanent cessation.

  16. Christiana, great Winnie the Pooh reference.

LOL, Laurie. I don’t think carding is going to be enough. At least, it didn’t work on my hair. :)
